Launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Ocean

On the May 25 2022, Sally-Ann Hart MP launched the APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) for the Ocean with cross-party support. The APPG for the Ocean seeks to provide a collective space where all parliamentarians can support and promote ocean research and awareness, to develop greater understanding of the ocean and its role in tackling challenges such as climate change, and to debate wider ocean issues.

The inaugural meeting saw the election of Sally-Ann Hart MP as Chair. The following Vice Chairs were also elected: Sir Oliver Heald MP, Theo Clarke MP, Tonia Antoniazzi MP, Virginia Crosbie MP, Dr Matthew Offord MP, Afzal Khan MP, Baroness Jones and Lord Sheikh.

This recently launched APPG has an exciting upcoming schedule in 2022, including an inquiry on Ocean-Based Solutions and Blue Carbon.
